Finding the perfect Wedding Gown!

The planning has begun and you need a wedding dress?

Most bridal shops give one on one service and typically work by appointments, so the first thing you need to do is make appointments with you local bridal shops. Then take some time and look through some bridal magazines so you can get a feel for what you like. Now you need a trusted friend or family member to go along with you for an honest opinion.

Once you get to the bridal shop there are a few tips to help you find your dress!

1. Be open-minded! Try on at least 3 completely different dresses to see how they look on you. A lot of times a bride will purchase a dress that she would never have picked from a magazine, but once they try it on, they’re wonderfully surprised!

2. Select a budget and tell the bridal shop what your limit is. Prices vary extremely and so having a predetermined limit will save both you and the bridal shop time.

3. Now that you’ve found the style that fits you best. Try on several dresses by different designers in your style. A different fabric and designer can make a big difference.

4. By this time you can probably narrow your search down to 2 or 3 dresses. Once you’ve done that, there are a few questions for the bridal shop that will help you decide on the dress;

What is the name of the designer
How much does it cost?
Does that include alterations?
Do you do the alterations onsite?
How long it takes to order?
How much of a deposit is needed?
Is the deposit refundable?
How many fittings will there be?
How long do I have to pay for the dress?

There are so many designers and styles out there that there’s a dress for everyone! So don’t get too upset if you don’t find your dress on your first try, because your dress could be waiting for you at the next bridal shop. And if you’ve tried all your local bridal shops and still can’t find your perfect dress, you can always have one made custom for you!

By now you’ve tried probably tried on dozens of dresses and asked all your questions to the bridal shop. But remember this, the most important thing is that you need to be yourself on your special day. So find the dress that fits your personality as well as your body shape. The best way to that is to ask yourself; “How does this dress make me feel?”
